Automatic export to Google Maps

Bevan Jan 12, 2016 02:46PM EST

It would be nice to be able to automatically export-import tracks to Google Maps, and/or other mapping services. This way they can be used combined with other map data to create useful map guides and information for more general/public consumption.

For example, if I use my trace on a back-country ski tour, I could create a guide, using excerpts of the trace data for fellow tourers to find the same runs, then publish it on my blog or a website for other tourers.

The GPX export allows me to do this, but is manual, slow and cumbersome. And the feature is found under my account settings section (!?). A button on the session stats page "Import/export to Google Maps" would be great!

There is already a "View visit on Google Earth" button on session stats, but it does not work. And it is not clear what it is supposed to do.

Hi Bevan,

You can connect your account to Dropbox, and then we'll automatically sync GPX data to your Dropbox folder under Apps. You can use this file anywhere, like Google Maps.
